Ron Paul's seemingly-libertarian stance is interesting to some -- on the surface. But he has a Terrible FLAW!

Ron Paul (one of the lower-tier Republican candidates for President) would like for abortion rights to be back in the hands of the individual states. If that disaster were to befall America, the USA would be a hodgepodge of *free* states and *slave* states. In order to enable economically-deprived women who desired abortions to get them, a new (and legal) charitable "Underground Railroad" system would HAVE to be created to ferry them from the slave states to the free ones, and back. And many thousands of them would still fall through the cracks.

Thus, Ron Paul is a BIGOT. And we've had more than enough of that in the White House already, with G.W. Bush!

Back in the mid-1970s... only about 10 years after all American girls and women were emancipated from being forced to gestate UNwanted pregnancies to term against their will -- by a then-still-benevolent U.S. Supreme Court in it's Roe vs. Wade decision, Jerry Falwell marshalled a band of intolerant and hateful people and initiated the "Religious" Radical Right -- the RRR Cult. And gave this blog very ample reason to function, 30 years later, along with thousands of other egalitarian sites.

Falwell called his organization the "Moral Majority," but it was about as far from being either moral or comprising a majority as any crowd of ignorant bigots could possibly be. They claimed to be Christian, but they, just like today's RRR Cult, were all about extreme busybodyism, lies, hate-propagandizing, opposing reasonable, harmless, and beneficial personal liberties, and lining the pockets of what had soon become an oligarchical leadership of like-minded oppressive organizations. In short, it would be hard to imagine any crowd being more UN-Christian than they are.

They comprise only a mere 6% of the Americans who profess Christianity. Noisy and noisome, high-profile, strident, and ever-bigoted, they give Christianity a very black eye. Millions of NON-Christians, seeing their antics, probably would prefer to attend a rat fight before having anything to do with listening to the Gospel. So the UN-Christian RRR Cult is probably the best collection of buddies Satan has ever had.

The purpose of this blog is to provide IDEAS. The articles you'll find in here will provide you lots of good ammo to employ in the defense and promotion of individual liberties, and with which to fight the hate-agendas of the RRR. This ammo comes in the form of Talking Points, Food for Thought, Tactics, and Effective Strategies. We look forward to your contributions to it!

Egalitarians! It's Time to Emulate MLK, Jr. & HERO-UP!

The First Civil Rights Movement started more than half a century ago, and victory was achieved in stages, from 1964 thru 1967. That was the second emancipation for blacks in America. (Lincoln's proclamation was the first, but it left many things undone.)

On January 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court formally emancipated America's entire female population with its Roe vs. Wade decision. Nationwide, teen girls and women no longer could be forced to gestate UNwanted pregnancies to term. And for a couple of years after that, things were wonderful for that huge segment of the population.

Unfortunately, it was very shortly after that, in the mid-'70s, that Jerry Falwell triggered the inception of the loathsome RRR Cult with his lyingly-named "Moral Majority." The right to access safe and legal abortion was their primary target, as they sought with increasing vigor to reverse the emancipation, so as to once again relegate girls and women to being enslaved by unwanted reproductive-process entities. As a result of their efforts (and society's and its politicians' misperception of that noisy crowd's diminutive numbers -- the RRR comprises only 5% of the population), scores of hateful laws have been enacted to make it more difficult to obtaining that hugely-important and valuable remedy. And thanks to them, we now have a U.S. Supreme Court that may haunt us for decades by being anti--personal liberties. The sort of court that no American alive today has ever before seen.

As if that weren't bad enough, it wasn't long after that time that the cult, by then a collection of like-minded pseudo-Christian organizations, headed by a close-knit oligarchical leadership, found yet another group of people to harass... the more than 10 million (and by now around 15 million) homosexuals in America. The Anti-Gay agenda was and is multi-faceted, denigrating gays in all ways possible, and seeking to discriminate against them with respect to housing, the workplace, and military service. In recent years, gays have fought for the equal right of marrying their partners of choice, regardless of the gender composition of the marriage.

All this hatefulness against hundreds of millions of innocent and people who are totally undeserving of it has led to an increasing groundswell of resistance that has become Civil Rights Movement II. We don't have a charismatic leader like Martin Luther King, Jr. as yet... but obtaining such leadership probably is the only remaining piece of the puzzle that we need.

This is an open invitation for such a person to come forward to carry the banner of liberty for all American girls, women, and GLBTs. May he or she come forward soon -- and then may all fair-minded egalitarians rise up to support that person.

It's time for ALL of us to HERO-UP, and take on America's internal Taliban... Just as MLK, JR. and his dedicated freedom fighters of all races did against the equally ignorant, hateful and bigoted segregationists, half a century ago.

The agendas of the segregationists were driven to extinction 40 years ago. It is time to lay the loathsome agendas of the "Religious" Radical Right to the same permanent rest.

In a tearful explanation to the San Diego community, Republican mayor Jerry Sanders explains why he decided that he would support the gay marriage bill. It's a stunning display of courage, bound to turn the Republican party against him in order to do what's right for his lesbian daughter, gay friends, and the San Diego community. I have to admit that I totally broke down crying listening to him and I hope that more elected officials have the courage he had to do what's right rather than play to a religious-lead campaign of intolerance. (Unfortunately, Schwarz-enegger still seems bent on vetoing the state bill that would define marriage as a civil contract between two people.)

Note: my personal belief is that marriage is a flawed institution and I would like to see it obliterated entirely. Given that this is not likely to happen, I strongly believe that everyone should have access to the rights afforded by such a commitment. I personally wish that there was more public discussion of those rights and the reasons behind why society supports unions. Those opposed to same-sex marriage are typically involved in myth making instead of reality checking. Many of us know painfully well that marriage does not inherently protect children nor does it guarantee that the partnership will last. Yet, we also know that marriage allows us to get access to our partners in times of medical crises, keep our foreign-born partners in the country, etc. Economists also know that marriage statistically reduces stupidity (thus, the logic behind cheapened car insurance and tax benefits in general). Functionally, marriage is a commitment that is rewarded economically and socially because it makes for a more stable and prosperous society. All signs seem to point towards the same being true for same-sex marriage so the objections to it are more philosophical than functional, rooted in intolerance rather than societal efforts towards a collective good.
